Our pay is highly competitive within the legal market, with trainees currently starting on a salary of £43,000. In your second year as a trainee, this rises to £49,000. In addition to your basic salary, you will also be eligible for a performance-related bonus after each trainee seat.

We pay the course fees and provide a maintenance grant for the GDL (Graduate Diploma in Law) and LPC (Legal Practice Course): GDL in London (£8,000), GDL outside London (£7,000) and LPC at the University of Law in Moorgate (£7,000).

On qualification, you can expect a Total Cash potential (basic salary and performance bonus combined) of up to circa £90,000.

As well as a free in-house fitness centre, which also offers classes, you will receive corporate membership discounts with a range of health club providers. Sports and Social clubs are an important element to employees health and wellbeing, we current have over 19 clubs including football, hockey, choir  and sailing.

The firm provides you  with access to Private Medical insurance. Through the firms employee assistance programme, you and your family will have access to a free and confidential counselling and advice service, that can provide expert, practical advice and emotional support.

You will automatically join our pension scheme. Although retirement arrangements might not be top of your priorities right now, this is an important and valuable benefit.

Voluntary work

We are committed to pro bono, charity and community activities and you are entitled to take time off for voluntary work.


You are entitled to 27 days' annual holiday, as well as bank holidays. In addition you will have an additional day off for your birthday or special day. To further enhance your annual leave entitlement, you have an annual opportunity to buy up to five additional days holiday through salary sacrifice.

At the end of your training contract, you will have the chance to take qualification leave. As a qualified lawyer you will also have the opportunity, at certain points in your career, to take a four week sabbatical. 

Time off in Lieu scheme

With the level and intensity of work we're involved in, unpredictable hours are often a way of life – but it doesn't go unnoticed.

We proactively monitor and review working time and have a formal scheme in place which provides opportunities for additional annual leave to be used after a busy period. 

Back Up services

Unexpected situations can arise when you have children or other family members needing care. For example, if your normal childcare provisions are not available, this can make it difficult for you to meet your work commitments. In situations where this happens, we have emergency Back Up Family Care scheme in place that enables you to come to work with peace of mind.


You are entitled to free entry to all paying exhibitions at a range of venues, including the British Museum, the National Gallery and Tate Modern. For a visit to the local cinema, you can avail of discounted prices at the Barbican Centre.

On-site services

To make things as convenient for our people as we possibly can, we have a doctor, dentist Occupational Health nurse and physiotherapist on site.

Eating and drinking

Our popular subsidised restaurant, ‘Silks’ provides a variety of dishes from around the world.

Across the road from the office is the famous lunchtime destination Whitecross Street Market, as well as several restaurants, including Pham Sushi –A couple of our favourites for after work are The Jugged Hare and Chiswell Street Dining Rooms, both situated just next door to the office.
